Job Description

IT Technician is an entry-level staff position for individuals seeking a new career in information technology. Work assignments will include a quarterly rotation through areas of need including for example Experience Center IT support, classroom and learning technology support, deskside support, and product & project management.

Successful applicants will receive on-the-job training during the first twelve months of employment. Upon successful completion of the twelve-month training program an IT Technician will receive an industry recognized IT certification. It is anticipated that individuals who successfully complete this training will have developed skills that would qualify them for other, more senior information technology positions at the University.

Essential Duties

Under the supervision of support staff personnel through hands-on work and training opportunities:

Provides helpful, timely, and professional customer assistance to users experiencing technology issues (in person, via phone, and via e-mail)
Prioritizes incoming support requests for students, faculty, and staff experiencing computer and technology related issues
Creates and tracks issues using the university ticketing software entering accurate and complete information
Provides classroom technology support and maintenance
Communicates and collaborates with all departments to answer a variety of questions, and to deliver services in an efficient and effective manner; cross-trains to provide additional support as needed for other services
Coordinates with stakeholders and technical staff to install and configure software, hardware, cabling, desktop operating systems, and other computer-related technologies to assist users
Coordinates with Learning Technologies to install and configure classroom technology, hardware, and other audio visual-related technologies as needed.
Coordinates with DesktopSupport to maintain desktop images for Classrooms
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Must have GED or a Highschool diploma

Evidence of successful completion of a professional IT training program (e.g. Google IT Support, AppleCare, Apple App Dev, Cloud Computing, or Adobe Foundations)
