SOR Youth Intervention Project Coordinator
The State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant Youth Intervention Project Coordinator oversees school-based targeted prevention and intervention programs funded through the two-year Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Cooperative Agreements for State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant. The Youth Intervention Project Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the targeted youth prevention and intervention components of this grant initiative with a focus on expanding the number of evidence-based targeted prevention and intervention programs currently offered through the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) Office of Youth and Young Adult Services (OYYAS). The Youth Intervention Project Coordinator is responsible for various duties including general administration; implementation of programs; assurance and reporting; interagency collaboration; data collection and analysis; work with consumers and families; infrastructure development and sustainability planning for programming. Salary commensurate with experience.


-Directs and monitors targeted prevention and intervention programs funded by the SOR grant to ensure the effective delivery of program services in adherence to stated federal outcomes.
-Exercises day-to-day responsibility over program development, implementation, provider communication, and participation in SOR grant meetings.
-Conducts administrative, budgeting, data reporting, and evaluation activities in compliance with federal SAMHSA reporting requirements.
-Participates in all staff development as indicated by supervisor.
-Assists in and/or contributes to the creation of bi-annual reports and final report to SAMSHA Project Officer and participates in monthly conference call with SAMHSA Project Officer if/as required.
-Updates BSAS staff on new issues, trends, news, etc. related to project activities.
-Facilitate monthly grantee meetings with contracted providers to monitor implementation, evaluation and sustainably of the grant funded sites.
-Facilitates intra and interagency planning and work groups.
-Represents DPH/BSAS in intra and interagency collaboration and interface with providers, and interacts with consumers.
-Participates in the development of interagency service agreements, and/or federal funding grants to support the expansion of the statewide capacity to address high risk behaviors among youth including early substance use/abuse.
-Ensures consumer participation in project planning, evaluation and quality assurance.
-Develops strategies to determine provider Technical Assistance needs in collaboration with OYYAS/BSAS Single State Authority (SSA)
-Develops and implements on-going TA program including provider orientations.
-Facilitate weekly conference calls between partners for first four-month start up, then bi-weekly throughout two-year grant period.
-Acts as liaison with trainers, local community-based organizations charged with implementing components of the project, project evaluation team and state stakeholders.
-Acts as liaison with local, state and federal government authorities, stakeholders, specialists and others to exchange information and/or address concerns.
-Collects and analyzes data on service utilization and outcomes.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree from accredited College or University in social work, public health or relevant field, Master’s Degree preferred.
-At least 5 years of demonstrated experience with large project management.
-Strong written communications skills to convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly.
-Strong oral communication skills including ability to direct conversations toward attainment of specific goals or agreement on activities needed to achieve those goals.
-Experience working with youth and families.
-Experience in multi-agency collaborations including work with school districts.
-Willing and able to travel to designated locations statewide.
-Knowledge of adolescent and young adult substance abuse prevention and treatment service system and resources.
-Knowledge of the social, economic, technological and ecological factors, trends and problems, involved in human services planning.
-Ability to lead a group of partners from many systems.
-Ability to integrate information into a systems framework for developing plans and implementation strategies.
-Knowledge of federal grant requirements including assurance and reporting.
-Experience with contract management and procurement.
