The Space Science Institute (SSI) is shaping our future by enabling scientists to advance our understanding of Earth and the Universe; increasing science and technology literacy for people of all ages and backgrounds; and inspiring youth to pursue science-technology education and career opportunities. SSI’s National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL) in Boulder, Colorado has an immediate need for an individual with experience in graphic design, illustration, or related fields. Join the team to help make cutting-edge science- and technology-related learning more accessible to learners of all ages and backgrounds.

The successful applicant will be experienced at working across various communication formats, from physical, print, digital, to social media platforms. They will collaborate with internal and external project team members to develop and support project-specific education-focused communications. The successful applicant will add to their portfolio with varied projects, such as exhibit illustrations to be displayed in libraries, creating innovative and engaging social media campaigns through visuals, reports, and other publications. They will take concepts and interpret them through visuals for diverse audiences. They will work through all phases of the creative process, from brainstorming, drafting, and refining innovative concept, to deploying the designs for public use, and incorporating lessons learned into future tasks.

This position reports to a Principle Investigator with the goal of expanding participation in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) through multiple projects in the STAR Library Network (www.starnetlibraries.org) portfolio.
